I started working for the council 8 years ago straight after leaving schools as a Business Administration Apprentice. Whilst completing my apprenticeship I worked with the Adult, Family and Community Learning Team (AFCL). Whilst completing my apprenticeship I was always offered other training such as ICT qualifications, Functional Skills Maths and then onto GCSE Maths. I worked with AFCL for just over two years. My second year I was enrolled on to an Early Years Educator Course which I passed in 2019. Alongside this I completed the Award in Education & Training through AFCL.
II progressed to a Business Development Officer working within the Children & Young People’s Directorate. I feel this role really helped me in my personal development as I worked across the directorate with all the different teams. The work really varied from supporting the SEND panel, supporting with free school meal vouchers during the COVID pandemic and working closely with the senior management within our team.
When I returned to work after maternity leave, I joined the Parenting and Family Support Team. This job was ideal for me returning to work as it was part time and fit perfectly around childcare. When I felt ready to look for full time work, I came across this post for Public Health Project Officer, within Well Doncaster. I have always enjoyed finance and felt it was something I did well. Knowing this role was going to be a lot of finance and it was also career progression I had to apply. Even after working with the Council for 8 years, I have joined Well Doncaster and broadened my knowledge with even more with information and this is thanks to my team. I really enjoy working with the Well Doncaster team. It allows you to know what is going on not only in the City but also your local community. The team are helpful, and it is great to work with a group of people who have a lot of knowledge and experience in all different areas.
Fun fact: I am petrified of cats!
What people appreciate about me: I am always willing to help others, both at work and in my personal life
What is important to me: My Family, especially my little boy and working hard to progress in my career
The thing I enjoy best about being part of Well Doncaster: Working with a large team of people who are always happy to help. I am always learning from my colleagues. The variety of tasks coming in helps to broaden my knowledge and gain more experience.
