GDM Networking and Funding Workshop

In November, Well Doncaster, Community Wealth Builder and Get Doncaster Moving worked collaboratively to host the second ‘Networking and Funding advice’ workshop for sports clubs and community organisations at Wheatley Hills RUFC in Cusworth.  

There was a great turn out with 32 representatives from 21 clubs and organisations gathering to engage in presentations and discussions around funding. Sport England and Get Doncaster Moving presented several different funds and the support available to help groups with their applications. South Yorkshire Funding and Advice Bureau (SYFAB) also presented on their resources and tools to help groups identify and apply for funding.

Following the presentations, attendees networked, learning about what each other offer and exploring links to connect and work collaboratively. The workshop has already led to 3 Active Communities Grants applications, 7 walk leaders being trained, and many new connections between clubs, organisations, Well Doncaster Officers, Community Wealth Builder and Get Doncaster Moving.

At the workshop, feedback was gathered about what the network would like future sessions to focus on. The next workshop will be 6pm on Tuesday 20th February at Wheatley Hills RUFC and will focus on the free resources and training Sport England can offer to clubs and organisations through the Buddle platform (previously Club Matters) and the support available through Community Wealth Builder.
